The aim of this three-day course is to prepare you for an extended ski touring challenge. The idea is to go over all the elements that you will require for the trip. These are broken down into four critical areas.

Equipment & clothing
It is essential that you start out on your adventure with the right equipment in perfect working order. Whatever you are taking needs to be tried and tested. If it’s old, it needs to be re-looked at, if it’s new, broken in and checked.

It is essential to have the right clothing. It can make the difference between succeeding and failing. On the one hand, you need to be prepared for every eventuality. On the other, you do not want to carry too much weight. All this will be covered.

Fitness
You can never be fit enough for the mountains. The days are long, the exercise strenuous and the conditions tough. Our three-day session is a wake up call. It demonstrates in black and white what to expect and how fit you are. People always underestimate the task in hand and overestimate their level of fitness

Technical
If you haven’t done any ski touring or not much, this is an accelerated learning course to ensure that you are capable and confident to tackle your ski tour challenge. You be shown how to prepare your skis, how to adjust them while on the move, how to kick turn and how to move in ski tour bindings.

Guide
Your guide on the 3-day session will be your guide on the ski tour. This is important. It allows you to meet each other and to exchange expectations before an adventure that requires good communication. For us, this is key.

Primary Objectives
- give you confidence in your ski touring ability
- make sure you have the right equipment and clothing
- build your technique and ski touring knowledge
- ensure you have the correct expectations – no overestimation, no under estimation
- work with your guide before your trip

Measured outcome
- you will be a more proficient and more confident skier
- you will make the right decision in equipment and clothing – often saving on unnecessary or incorrect purchases (otherwise known last minute panic buying)
- you will trust and believe in your guide
- you will know beforehand exactly where you stand with your level of fitness and any weaknesses in your preparation and be able to do something about it.
