The shift of scenery is extraordinary and in such a short amount of time.
You start out in a blaze of green from trees, grasses and vegetation. Shortly, the trees disappear and a carpet of coarse heather and low bushes covers the mountainside. Then all of a sudden, the world of rock and ice takes over and the lunar landscape begins.
The contrast is fascinating making the mountains ever more beautiful, the crevasses ever more frightning and the Domes de Miage ridge ever more sublime.
