Everyone’s heard of the famous Haute Route - a ski tour that crosses the Alps from Chamonix to Zermatt. Few have heard of the Haute Cuisine Route – a ski tour that crosses your palette from the Albert 1er to Zum Zee. That’s because it has never been done before.

When you ski the Haute Route, you are skiing on the borders of France, Italy and Switzerland. Besides sharing an amazing mountain range, these countries also share an insatiable appetite for good food. Hence the idea of a Haute Cuisine Route – a ski tour that is as challenging as the classic route but includes deliciously wholesome food along the way.

For anyone who isn’t acquainted with this ski tour, the Haute Route is exceptional for linking two of the great mountain centres in Europe, Chamonix and Zermatt. You start underneath Mt Blanc (the highest summit in Western Europe) and finish in the shadow of the Matterhorn.
In between, you work your way through a myriad of famous glaciers, summits, huts and mountain villages.

The tour is a serious undertaking, over six days and six nights, skiing from one mountain refuge to another with uplifts in Argentiere and Verbier. Training and preparation is definitely required. The food will be exceptional but it will not carry you the whole way.

The programme includes a weekend with your guide a month before the trip. This is essential as it allows you to check all your equipment in advance of D-Day. It also allows you to see exactly how fit you are and whether you need to step up your training or not and, importantly, you get to know your guide before the trip.

There are two trips running in 2006 with room for 4 to 6 people in each.
